What should I wear to my treatment?
Loose fitting gym shorts, sports bra, underwear, tanktop or whatever you are comfortable with. Keep in mind that treatment is directly on skin, not over clothes.
Do you accept insurance?
Payment for services is expected at the time of your treatment. I do not directly bill insurance. However, if manual therapy is covered by your insurance, I will provide the paperwork to submit for reimbursement. The following is a superbill template that can be used for insurance reimbursement. I accept cash, check, Visa/Mastercard/Discover and Venmo.
How many sessions will I need?
Results vary by individual. There are many factors that play a role to where you are now and in the healing process. However, many experience a decrease of symptoms or increase of mobility even after just one session. However, depending on your therapeutic goals and current situation, sessions bi-weekly, weekly, or every other week for 4 to 12 weeks is a fair estimate of necessary time.
How frequently will I need to come?
Again, treatment plans vary by individual and we will discuss these during your initial visit. Depending on the severity of the issues or the results one is looking for, myo/gyno fascial release techniques prove to be most effective when increased treatments are received in a shorter period of time. The closer together sessions are, the more the effects of treatment are compounded. Fifteen treatments over three weeks is generally more effective than fifteen treatments over fifteen weeks. In some cases, our Accelerated Healing Program will be recommended, but in most cases, treatment once or twice a week may be encouraged at the beginning of a treatment plan or during an acute situation.
Are the treatments painful?
Oftentimes, you will experience myo/gyno fascial release techniques are gentle and relaxing. However, depending on your presenting concerns, session may be therapeutically challenging. Over time, you may have developed a “high pain threshold” or learned to block out various unpleasant feelings. However, we need to feel to heal! I will encourage you to feel all sensations that may arise and will help you through these therapeutically uncomfortable moments.
At the same time, I want you to know absolutely that myo/gyno fascial release techniques never force the body so will not injure you.
What will I experience after a treatment session?
It is important to listen to your body after a session, and know that some delayed soreness or discomfort may be experienced. This is a common part of the healing process. It is important to discuss any pain or discomfort with your therapist. Drink plenty of water following your treatments and give yourself permission to experience these sensations to the fullest.
